Greyhound

The 1871 census showed the Mr John Pike ran a pub called the Greyhound on the Causeway. An article in the Reading Mercury, dated 20th April 1929, mentions that Tudor House had once been a pub and so this is probably the site of the Greyhound. Between the wars some Americans tried to buy Tudor House as it was such a classic example of an English cottage. They intended to demolish the house and rebuild it brick by brick in the USA.
