My daughter Lesley asked me what I remembered about the Coronation. It seemed a tall order. What was I doing 60 years ago? However here are a few memories of that day.
At 10am on the morning of June 2nd 1953 my then boyfriend Maurice (later to become my husband) picked me up in his car and took me to his home where they had a TV with a 9” screen in black and white. I hadn’t seen TV before and sat enthralled all day as the Coronation of Elizabeth II unfolded.
In the late afternoon we took the dog for a walk to get some fresh air and exercise but I never regretting spending so much time in front of that tiny 9” black & white TV.
This has been an interesting exercise remembering 2/6/1953.
