I’m in my eighties and I remember the Coronation really well because I’d just been demobbed and I had a job as a bus driver. So that morning I started work at 5am, as I had every day months before and months after. So, my memories of the Coronation are of doing my ordinary shifts; my first task was taking workers off to work in Cowley and MG in Abingdon. Then I had to take kids to and from school, and then returns trips from work and then a late shift through to 9pm collecting hop pickers.

It was a long old day, but a very clear memory of the Coronation.
