Cherry Tree
The pub has previously been known as the ‘Railway’ and a 1940 picture shows it as a hotel offering tea and accommodation.
In the 1920s a pig club held meetings in the, then, Railway Inn
Once an Ushers pub it became a free house for a while and is now owned by Wadsworth Brewery in Devizes.
In 1950 the Spy, Klaus Fuchs, ate here.
A 1983 CAMRA guide mentions the ‘unusual but dangerous’ automatic snuff-taking machine in the pub, there is also the quaint riddle fireplace.
